Healthy eyes and vision are a critical part of children's development. Their eyes should be examined regularly, as many vision problems and eye diseases can be detected and treated early.

All children should have an eye exam beginning at 6 months of age and at least one more prior to kindergarten.

School age children should have annual eye exams. Children may not complain or have definite symptoms of a vision problem although having a thorough exam will help detect any abnormalities.

Sometimes problems with school performance, coordination, and depth of perception could be the result of a undiagnosed eye condition.
